News: Print 3D Models of Your Minecraft Creations with Mineways

Want to see your Minecraft creations in real physical form outside of your server? Mineways is a free program for Linux or Windows users that renders all of your Minecraft builds into full color 3D model files. Those files can then be sculpted using your own 3D printer (if you have one), or uploaded to Shapeways, a company that will print your 3D models creations in colored plastic, which you can then purchase or sell in their online gallery.

News: This is a Seriously Epic Ship

Moderator Andrew has constructed an epic sailing vessel. Okay, it doesn't actually sail, but it is epic in scale. This ship is so large it disappears in the render fog. Made from lots of wood, wool, and a few missed matches blocks, this is a great example of unique Minecraft architecture. Not only is it fit to hold hundreds of players, his ship is equipped with several giant bows ready to tear apart it's enemies. Unfortunately, the sailing and fighting will have to remain in our imaginations ...

News: A Great Cliff Palace is Underway

Something is forming on the cliffs west of Shmattown...User Zedicus is working on his cliff side home filled with Escher-like stair cases and bridges. There are some great examples of architectural themes in here, as well as a great use of nature as he as build into the and around the stone and grass. We'll likely have more examples of great architecture from Zedicus as progress moves along on the server.

News: Survival mode Confirmed for Minecraft Pocket Edition!

This is for you fans of the Minecraft Pocket Edition: survival mode has been announced! This has been one of the most requested changes wanted by players worldwide, and now its coming! We should also expect additions like crafting and mining which are, of course, integral to the survival experience. It will be interesting to see how these changes are integrated into these devices.

Crafting Blocks into Bricks: A Minecraft LEGO Diorama

Let's face it. Minecraft probably wouldn't exist today if not for LEGOs. They are fundamentally the same; building objects out of blocks. Only Minecraft has expanded on the idea, creating a world where nearly anything can be made. It's probably even more accurate to say that Minecraft is the digital embodiment of LEGO Mindstorms, thanks to all the working, moveable parts and ingenious in-game engineering that make Minecraft a functional, living world.
