Weekly Tips #1: Building Around Your Environment

One of the best ways to make a great build is to build around the environment. Fancy plugins like World Edit and Voxel Sniper aren't always necessary. In the real world, people can't just edit the environment to their every whim and need. They have to work around it. Not only does building around your environment help to make your build look nicer, it helps to make it look more realistic. In the above picture, I could only make a small house because I wanted this build to work with the enviro...

News: Fallout Inspired underground bunker

As my in game name (TehGeekFather) would suggest I tend to like things on the Geekier side of things. Games being one of them. (duh I'm on a Forum dedicated to Minecraft) That being said I am a huge Fallout fan. (NO! not the band. <Sigh>) I'm referring to the post apocalyptic series first developed by Black Isle Studios, the roll playing game division of Interplay, back in 1997. Fallout 1 and 2 were pretty big back then open game play, being able to complete tasks in different ways depending ...

How To: Build a Piston-Train Tug-O-War Game in Minecraft 1.3.

Getting two sticky-pistons to pull eachother, a piston-train, isn't anything new but the pistons and their timing in 1.3 are and there has been alot of QQ-ing on the Minecraft-forums about how bad they are and that Jeb should bring back the old pistons we all know. I, for one, not only welcome out new 1.3-pistons but have also made a small mini-game out of them. A two-player tug-o-war. The players stand on the diamond or emerald area and press a button to make the piston-train take one step t...

Minecraft: Metropolitan City

I've often marvelled at the complex worlds people come up with on Minecraft. I particularly enjoy looking at maps with skyscrapers and modern structures in modern cities. If you're one of those people too, check out this sneak peek for a tour of a world-class city containing replicas of buildings including the Trump Tower, BMO and one of my favourites: The Bellagio Hotel! The world has been made on the XBOX 360 by a very creative user with the gamertag: TH3 3ND 0F TiM3.
