Minecraft World's Weekly Workshop: Architectural Design and Aesthetics

Does your structure sometimes lack that "pizzazz" you seek? Well, this week's Saturday workshop is going to give you a few tips on how to upgrade your builds! This workshop will be centered around adding some extra aesthetics to your castle walls, towers, buildings and more.

Andrewed and I (Maroselis) have a tutorial area set up with a warp, so when the tutorial starts we let everyone know which warp to use. Throughout the tutorial, we will invite everyone to try out designs of their own, or you can simply just follow along as we recreate some of the more sophisticated builds on the server.

If any of you want to chime in on the tutorial, we welcome you to! If you have tips and suggestions of your own, we'd love you to join us in teaching the rest of the server. Please leave a comment on this thread with what you would like to bring to the table!

Keep in mind that in order to become great, it's going to take a lot of practice! We're doing this tutorial to help nudge all of you in the right direction, and to inspire you. Not everyone can sit back and create their own design from their head, so don't be discouraged! It takes a lot of time and patience, but eventually you'll get there!

(1) This design is a lot more advanced, but for those interested, we will be recreating a part of this wall during the tutorial!, (2) This simple tower, though small in size, makes a huge impact with the architectural detail. (3) This is a more simple design, though it might look complicated at a first glance. If you take a look at the wall, you can see that it's just a simple design, but it's repeated in a pattern. (4) This is a great example of what a huge impact detail has on even the simplest concept. (5) Not all detail has to be created using stone and cobble—wood and bricks are a great alternative!

We have been doing a lot of articles lately on Architecture in Minecraft, so if you've enjoyed those, you won't want to miss this Weekly Workshop! Join us this Saturday, January 28th at 4pm CST where we will be going over some tips to help you make the most of your build!

We use TeamSpeak3 for our tutorials; you can download it free here.

Your style is nice, but its kinda, stony.. :/

Spud, thats cause most of these pictures were 1 city and i like them to be realistic. Thus, no wool. I have builds with wood as well, but that city isn't 100 percent complete

Spud, you're welcome to join in on the tutorial and show people some designs of your own :)

I might do that yeah.. Don't get me wrong i love your builds especially the use of stairs.

Saturday, January 28th?
Really?
You do realize you are announcing this like 7 weeks in advance, right?
But cool idea anyway.
