This "How-to" is how to survive your first night on Minecraft. This is for new Minecraftians to Minecraft. The first thing you want to do is find wood. This is very essential to survive your first night. Then, you want to make wooden planks. To craft anything, press E or I. After that, there should be a 2x2 box at the top. Put two wooden planks on top of each other. If you did this right, there should b four sticks to the right. After that, you want to make a Crafting Table. To make a Crafting Table, fill the whole 2x2 crafting box with wooden planks. To the right, it should show a Crafting Table. Now, put the crafting table down on the ground. Right-click it, and it should show a 3x3 crafting box. The next thing you want to do is make a Wooden Pick-axe. Put two stick on top of each other. Then at the top, put three Wooden planks across the Crafting Box. To the right, there should be a Wooden Pick-axe. The next thing you want to do is find Coal. It would really help if there was a mountain near by. If there is, look at the sides of the mountains There is probably coal at the sides of the mountains. Coal looks like all he other stone, but with black dots in it. If there isn't any Mountains, or no coal on the Mountains, you will have to dig under-ground. To get through he dirt and grass easier, you will want to make a Shovel. To make a Shovel, right-click your Crafting Table again. Put two sticks on top of each other. Then at the very to, directly above the two stick, put down one Wooden Plank. To the right, there should be a Wooden Shovel. Use the wooden shovel to dig down until you hit stone.
NOTE: Never, ever, ever, dig straight down!
When you hit stone, pull out your Pick-axe and keep digging. After you get at least three Cobble Stone, pull out your Crafting Table. Make another Pick-axe, but with Cobble Stone in Wooden Plank's place. To the right there should be a Stone Pick-axe. You can use this to mine stone faster. It also lasts longer. After you keep mining, you should finally hit coal. Mine some coal, and head back up, FAST! Now you can make some torches. To make a torch, right-click your crafting table or press E or I, to open up your basic Crafting system. To make a torch, put coal over a tick. This should make our torches.
NOTE: I recommend using the basic Crafting system.
After you make some torches, you need to make a shelter, to hide from the monsters. Monsters come out in the night, and also spawn anywhere it's dark. If there is Mountains near-by, try to make a shelter in the Mountain. If there isn't any Mountains, try to make a little shack out of the Cobble Stone that you mined. Put torches in your shack, and put down your crafting table anywhere you want. I would recommend making a door and put it on your house so monsters can't get in, but you can get in an out. If you want to make a chest to put your belongings in, you will have to go to your crafting table. Open up your crafting table and put Wooden Planks all around the crafting table, but leave one hole open in the middle of the Crafting Table. That should make a Chest. Put down he Chest where ever you want. To open up your chest, right click it. You can drag your belongings from your "back-pack" to your chest. To make a bigger chest, make another one and put it y your other chest. This will hold 2x as much stuff. Now, you just wait the night out. I hope this tutorial helped you.
