Make Your Minecraft House the Talk of the Town: How to Build Functioning Plumbing for Your Bathroom

Welcome to Minecraft World! Check out our tutorials, post to the community corkboard, and come play on our free server!

Minecraft World's Weekly Server Challenge: Pixel Art

Functioning bathrooms seem like a stretch in Minecraft, but with redstone, they're not that far out of reach! This past workshop focused on creating a fully functional bathroom for your Minecraft spa getaway. The workshop went really well, and we had some awesome contributors come in and show off their versions of showers, toilets, tubs and sinks!

Redstone Powered Shower

This awesome, pulsing, redstone-powered shower is sure to turn heads! Most showers release water at the flick of a lever, but this shower is very unique. Using a clock to power two sticky pistons, it creates a more "stream"—like realistic showers do!

The video below will walk you through how to create it!

Flushing Toilet

Who doesn't want a flushing toilet in their gorgeous bathroom? What is it, the stone age? I think not! For any modern bathroom, use this concept to create a simple flushing toilet. It will bring life to any bathroom!

Check out the video tutorial below to learn how to make a quick and easy flushing toilet!

Blow Dryer

Who uses towels anymore? This is Minecraft, after all, we're here to think on our feet! Dispensers with snowballs inside can make the perfect blow dryer.

Check out the video below to learn how to make one!

Locking Piston Door

Who doesn't want that extra privacy in your bathroom? With this tutorial, not only will you learn how to create a lightning-fast piston door, but also a lock for the door!

TehGeekFather's Inventions

TehGeekFather and his redstone contraptions are always popping up, and I love it! He really helps out during workshops and creates original things that make an impact. This past workshop, he created a working sink, bath tub and even an awesome shower door. I love the shower door, but he claims it was a failed concept.

This is his working sink, which I absolutely love and would have never thought of in a million years! You push the button, and the empty cauldron switches to a filled cauldron with water in it!

Here's his working bathtub in action:

Hit the button, water fills the tub

And here's his so-called "failed shower door concept," which I absolutely will be using in the future! The best part about it is that even if you're inside the shower, you can still reach around and flip the lever to let yourself out!

Silverbug12's Bathroom

Silverbug12 got right to work this past Saturday, creating an entire bathroom! It has a toilet, shower, sink and even a mirror! She's still learning redstone, but she did an excellent job last Saturday and is improving tremendously!

Great job Silverbug, it's an adorable bathroom that anyone could love!

Sproga2's Toilet/Shower

Sproga2 absolutely loves redstone and loves to show people how to make the most unique of things! For his first project, he created a little "privacy" room completely with its own toilet. You walk through the front, hit the button, and the door closes behind you while a toilet pops out of the floor!

His second creation was an upgraded version of his first. When you walk through, the pressure plate triggers the redstone and the redstone is on a timer. So while you're inside doing your business, the doors will open a few seconds after—no heavy lifting required (pushing buttons counts as heavy lifting, right?)!

His last creation is a shower that locks you inside, forcing you to shower for a few seconds! This was his idea for those kids who refuse to take a shower. Not only is it humorous, but it's an awesome concept!

Questions for the Audience:

  • How will you incorporate these furniture into your bathroom?
  • How are you with redstone? Still learning? Or more advanced?
  • Is there anything you're wanting to learn, have any tutorial suggestions?

I would love to hear a few words from the audience, so please... don't be shy!
