Winners of Minecraft World's Weekly Staff Choice Awards: Week 1

Friday is finally here, and that can only mean one thing... Weekly Staff Choice Awards! The first week had an amazing turnout, and although this was only the second week of the Choice Awards, there were so many worthy entries! The staff went around to all of the new builds and compiled a great list of the best for the week.

If you didn't win this week, don't fret! We will be doing the Weekly Staff Choice Awards every single week. If you would like to know what prizes will be given out for the Staff Choice Awards, check out the latest Weekly Challenge post to see what perks you could win! The prizes given out for the the Weekly Staff Choice Awards will always be the same as the prizes for the Weekly Challenge.

For next week, if you would like to enter your build, please do so by posting a video, screenshots, and some information about your build to the community corkboard.

You can also message me (Maroselis) in-game if you would like to recommend someone else for that week! If I'm not in game at the time, just type "/mail send Maroselis [And your message here] " (without the quotes). Please try to include the coordinates of the build you're recommending to make it easier for me to find it! Hit f3 in game to see your current coordinates.

Grand Prize Winner: Gussefant

Gussefant created this amazing Steam Fortress with several hidden redstone surprises inside. It's the ultimate survival hut filled with hidden nooks and treasures! He also made his own post with screenshots using his personal favorite texture pack, so go check it out!

Honorable Mentions: Woodspeople & SpudMunkey

Woodspeople created a gorgeous Fibonacci-inspired temple as seen here. She built the entire temple out of sandstone slabs to create visual interest.

SpudMunkey built a grand mansion using brick, stone slabs and dark grey wool to insure a serene and expensive look. SpudMunkey also made a post, so go check it out if you haven't seen it!

Hey thanks! Just a note, if anybody wants to build a "floating" slab thing like I did, watch out for a bug in the MC server. Sometimes, possibly randomly but I'm not sure, if you place as slab on the side of another, in midair, it disappears and won't stay there. The trick is to turn around and anchor it in another place, another direction. Then the block will stick. Making this tower would have been really easy (it's the fourth I've done in this style) but the disappearing bug meant I had to re-place about a tenth of the blocks over and over until I found out where they would "stick". Just a tip in case you come across the same bug.
